I know he isn't the most popular man on this forum but good on him for telling the army not to worry about showing him around, but to get out there and find the soldier.
I can think of one former PM who would have wanted the story to be about him and how he found the soldier on his own. Of course he would have insisted on a photo with his big cheesey grin.

Just thought, whilst DC was out there, guess who was left in charge of the country.
I wonder how power crazy Nick went for that 24 hours.

Bernard, do ya mean this guy by any chance? Mr, "I'm a straight sorta guy!" Blair!

BTW I think ALL politicians should be banned from visiting warzones that they have been directly or indirectly responsible for and also attending any kind of memorial services for the victims of their warmongering.

Only the Queen or immediate Royals should attend as a symbolic gesture. Unlike the kids of politicians, at least the Royals actually join the services! I wonder if Madman Blair would have been so ready to invade Iraq if one of his sons was going to be in the front line?

PM's need to visit a country at war - we can analyze the reasons they are there, but the fact they have their feet on the soil and can see with their own eyes the situation service men and women are in is important
