How on earth the character or conduct of the family of Milly could somehow determine whether that evil bastard Bellfield did it or not is beyond me. I was hoping to see on the news today that Jefffrey Samuels had "gone into hiding because of death threats" but sadly there has been no such reports on the news today.

I'm assuming there was no forensic evidence implicating Bellfield so his defence had to construct a narrative which would place a doubt in the jurors' mind that Bellfield had committed a murder.

Presumably this is why Samuels portrayed her as a depressed, troubled teen to suggest that she had perhaps run away rather than been abducted and maybe even taken her own life ? I don't know, i'm not familiar with the detail of the case.

On the one hand Samuels was doing his job, on the other hand his strategy has, I think, been rightly vilified.
