Smashing up London

I was watching Sky News from my Swiss home Saturday night and was completely shocked by the images of London streets being rampaged by the thugs. God knows what the tourist thought caught up in it.!sad!

I think the British government need to stamp on this and quick... those images were around the world... not a good selling point for moving your business/family/ life to the UK.

Sadly the country of my birth has a strange image abroad...my swiss colleagues cannot understand why the UK government is cutting so hard yet bombing Libya... in Afganistan... giving millions to India....etc...etc...etc...

Just wanted to run that past you guys....

PS Germany announced last week that they want to be the "new"Switzerland and concentrate on business, the economy and their people!

Over 250,000 people protested completely peacefully in London. A few hundred people caused trouble. The vast majority of the press (Tory/Murdoch dominated) concentrated on the trouble. Flames sell newspapers.

The media doesn't always give a balanced view, does it?

By the way when did 250,000 Swiss last demonstrate. I would imagine it was when someone in number 23 put their rubbish out in the wrong coloured bin bag.

!wink!

Merkel getting hammered in elections might have something to do with it. However, having joined in the EU stability fund, I doubt if Germany will be "concentrating on their people" too much in the next few years. I would guess they are going to be spending more time bailing out Greece, Ireland, Portugal, Spain......

PS I doubt if there are enough retired Nazis left over from Switzerland to help Germany to become the new "Switzerland". To be Switzerland, Germany would have to leave the EU and have a banking sector that has more in common with Al Capone.

I was at the march, compared to the amount of people who marched peacefully, the amount of trouble was barely worth talking about. A few kids smash a few windows, big deal.
