Former Home Secretary, Jacqui Smith who ended up "inadvertently" claiming for hubby's porn movies on MP expenses has made a 1 hour programme on the porn industry.
9.30 on Radio 5 tonight. You never know it might even be a balanced programme!
Cheers

Jerry at SB has already posted about this as he will be on the programme.
He is probably the only one who wont be anti, so dont expect too much in the way of balance. We can all ring in and support him of course. In her article in yesterday's Indie, Smith bragged about how she introduced the unnecessary and punitive, so-called 'extreme' porn legislation, reason enough to ring in and give her a hard time.

Yes, I guess it was too much to expect Radio 5 Live to have an intelligent programme.
What were the main conclusions? On the whole, people in porn are a fairly likeable bunch. There are some blokes who seem to confuse porn with real life. There are some people for whom porn has an addictive effect. For some people porn helps sexual relationships. It's a big industry. Some women are into porn but less than the number of men. There is a lot of free porn on the internet. It's not that easy being a male porn performer.
That took about an hour!
Cheers

As David illustrates, the programme was muddled to say the least - I tried to distil a coherent thread running through it, but failed miserably.
She droned on for ages about so-called adverse effects, but gave precious few examples, but masses of uninformed prejudice.
Plenty of smug voices along the lines of 'I'd rather have proper sexual relations in real life, thanks very much', a hint that for many people that's just not possible, but no exploration of that whatsoever.
Disappointing, but not unexpected.

I at least tried to put a contrary side in my phone call, and text.

Well to be fair, it was a polemic, and as I told her in my call, she 'loved the sinner, but hated the sin.'

We had a civilian friend around the house (a person who has nothing to do ith the business or the viewing of it) being subjected ti this show and Fayes flciking through the jiggly channels.
All this was a whole new world to her and finding out Liselle Bailey was a former school teacher was pleasantly shocking to her! LOL

As for that porn ruins relationships crap I wont dispute that but its a lot more complex than that.
How about blokes getting bored of the missus because she probably doesnt make any effort or her sex drive isnt as high as when they first met and he just finds porn a lot more exciting.
He could go off and spend loads on empty sex with prostitutes...oops, sorry, escorts!
