"All my people love me"

Can this guy be any more deluded? What's scary is that I think he really thinks it too! This is what happens when someone surrounds themselves with people who only agree and back up their own opinions: backslappers and yes men, if you prefer. It doesn't have to be within a government but in places of work, clubs and groups.........internet forums......They become unaccustomed to questioning their own beliefs and become annoyed, angry or downright nasty when others have the temerity to do so. Anyone with an alternate view is an enemy. This, I think, is where Gaddafi is right now. Him and his yes men sat together, looking about them with fear and bitterness, with a strong consensus that it's only their little outcrop.........their little rock, that holds the last bastion of sanity. I feel for Gaddafi just a teeny bit, not because I'm a supporter but because how he's gotten himself where he is was oh so predictable. People like him just can't help themselves and he probably couldn't have stopped such an outcome even with hindsight. Poor guy.

Whilst he's sat on his little outcrop, with all his mates, the outside world looks a crazy, illogical place. It must be quite frightening for him. Of course, to everyone else looking in he and his backslapping colleagues just look like your average bunch of bitter crazies.

All we can hope for is that we have no more bloodshed. To err is to be human; to forgive, divine.

Interesting comment, Sam. I was just thinking that myself with regard to Internet forums. For example, how on some forums a person might disagree with someone and they get called a Nazi for their troubles, non-stop for a year or so. I suppose that's why people join internet forums where their political views are similar to other members. That way they can talk about their prejudices unchallenged in a cosy, self-contained world. It's like an old boys club for those who can't abide their views being questioned.

Of course, those of us who don't get the hump and join fairnprogressive.myfreeforums.org, edmilibandisgroovy.myfreeforums.org or indeed, cleggieisagreatpoliticaltheorist.myfreeforums.org will carry on using the excellent Bgafd forum where we know we will get discussions with a huge range of people, some of whom, disagree with us in spades and indeed can even be a tad uncomplimentary at times.

Wot no Cleggie quote in your sig?

Saw this on the 10pm news last night.

"A team of analysts are expected to work through the night to analyse the meaning of a change in comms. signature in the secretive empire based in Sheffield and run by Sam Sung Slater".

Does it have a meaning? Or is it just an impenetrable idiosnycracy?

We await the result with bated breath.

I change my sig from time to time due to boredom.

I also have changed careers, house, girlfriends, hairstyle and toothpaste brand over the years. What's not changed is that I'm still a cunt that wants decking. What do you think of this?:

Decking

Looks ideal.

I'll ask a builder mate to get in touch.

He likes doing a bit of decking and has worked with a number of cunts over the years.

So he keeps telling me anyway with a enigmatic look on his face, when he is doing a bit of work round at mine.

'an enigmatic' surely?

Punch-drunk, obviously.
