Its a fucking shitty douche flick aimed at women. They make shitloads of them, usually with Hilary Swank, Sandra Bullock, Julia Roberts and George Clooney.
An alternative to watching a douche flick is hitting your scrotum repeatedly with a hammer.

America stopped making decent films in the 70s. Now the predominate factor is style over substance.

100% agree. The American movies of the 70's had believable characters with flaws and problems. If Dirty Harry was made today, they'd have Miley Cyrus singing and dancing in ripped denims and cowboy boots while shooting baddies with a gun that weighed more than she does.

I'm very much looking forward to seeing the remake of True Grit, I normally steer clear of remakes but if the reviews are to be believed (?) then this is one remake not to miss. The original 1969 version ranks in my top 5 of all time great westerns.

Come on, guys. America didn't stop making good films in the 70s. The difference is that back then (or at least before 75 with Jaws / before 77 with Star Wars) mainstream moviemaking accommodated a more intelligent audience. It got pushed to the sidelines after that, which of course is a big shame, but it didn't disappear.

In fact, it's interesting to note how well a lot of this year's contenders for Best Film Oscar are doing at the box office -- Black Swan, The King's Speech, The Fighter, True Grit. In recent years, viewing figures for the awards ceremony have apparently been down because too many of the nominated movies have been too indie and no-one's been to see them. On the evidence of this year, mid-budget adult movies are really bringing in the dosh, which is promising.

I also think that Hollywood's making better common-denominator blockbusters than it ever has before. Yes, most ARE rubbish but I was very happily surprised at the first Iron Man and Sherlock Holmes. I thought that those were movies that really took their duty to entertain very seriously.

Hollywood hasn't quite stopped making good films, they've just become lazy.

Since then, I haven't been.

Nowadays, I just rent 3 DVDs from Blockbusters. A lot more better than paying ?7.00 just to see a movie.

Besides, mostly a lot of films these days have the same old genres and cliches. Revenge themes, cops and robbers, serial killers stuff.
Any film you see.. same old pappyshow.

Hollywood must be running out of ideas.

One other thing, I'm not into these teen flicks.
Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, that sort of stuff.
