I'll get off the fence to start and state that I do not like this twatt.
It stems from his attempt to blacken the Army with faked photos of Brit soldiers abusing Iraqi prisoners when he was the editor of the Daily Mirror.
I have just read a snippet that a woman reporter is looking forward to Piers Morgan on Death Row in America. Not what myself and a lot of squaddies would like to see but the overblown egotistical twatt of a bastard visiting Death Row and interviewing condemned prisoners.
Haven't they got enough to worry about without that smarmey arsehole sticking a mike in their faces and asking them how they are getting on?
I know what reply I would like to see, "Not very fucking well. Only another day to go and you are in my face. Just go and FUCK OFF YOU TWATT." That would be funny.
Also I would like to see some prison govenor throw the twatt in the pokey for upsetting his inmates. Now that would be funny.

Well, I have to say that he has done very well for someone with little or no talent. Actually scrub that, in his 10 years as editor of the Daily Mirror he lost a million readers which takes a certain talent.

To be fair (what?) he didn't try to blacken the Army's name - it was more of an attack on Tony Blair and the government. He has a brother who has served in Afghanistan so it wouldn't be in his interest to criticise the Army per se.

That's about as much of a defence as I can muster. Anyone else?

Well..Not stick up for him as such as i dont really like him much either but therein lies his popularity. Seems the public love to hate these people like Jeremy Kyle too. Its what keeps them popular because they strike an emotional resonance with people that cant help but want to watch the becaus ethey love to hate them.

Personally I just dont watch people I dont like but I might watch this because I find the death row inmates thing interesting

But my real point is...I cant dispute any authenticity of brit soldiers not abusing Iraqui prisoners but are you 100% sure that those particualr soldiers didn't?

I know you used ot be in the army and all but would it be fair to say that maybe not all soldiers would be of the same professional code and conduct as you'd like to believe?

Just seems you are quick to defend blindly whereas I could understand in the emotional thick of battle and losing your friends that there is a very thin line to being professional and just wanting to torture the people to just ease the pain.

How was he attacking Blair. The twatt categotrically denied that the pictures were fake and that they were genuine showing British soldiers abusing Iraqi prisoners. Doesn't sound like an attack on Blair. Though that bastards should be attacked. With a fucking big stick !!

It was well documented at the time.
I will just go over it for those who are not totally aware of the event.
Photos were published in the Mirror showing an Iraqi prisoner being abused by two British soldiers. They were in the back of a truck.
The truck was a Bedford MK4 ton, which to those of us who spent years working on the fucking useless piles of shyte, were simple to identify.
The Bedford MK 4ton has distinctive drop side panels which are corrugated and are a salient recognition point.
They were by then relegated to TA duties and none were in the Iraq theatre of operations. Mistake number 1
The soldiers were holding SLRs' with numbers painted on the butts. These are known as butt numbers. These butt numbers are painted out on operations, and any way the SLR was no longer in use with Regular Forces, only TA. Mistake number 2.
The RMP SIB Investigated and I think 2 or 3 TA personell in the Blackpool area were arrested and Courts Martialled over the affair.
Clever these bastards were not. Morgan was even less clever as no investigation was carried out to verify the authenticity of the photos, or where they were offered from.
What annoys me about this is the fact that some venal bastards tried to sensationalise and make money from disgracing, to my mind, the finest Army that there is. The good thing is the bastards were too stupid to get away with it and the twatt Morgan got the sack. Personally I would have shot the bastards.

Thanks for clearing that up Rodders. I am not quick to belive a picture when i see it because I know full well the possibility of faking and I see how quick some people are to judge and have known my mistakes in the past doing likewise.

Go Rodders. For a failed editor of an almost dead tabloid he seems very happy to brown nose conservative Americans. Worse he is married to the totally stunning Celia Walden. Must be hung like a horse or she is simply stupid.
