A shout out to the Muslims:

As you know, I abhor religion, but came across this recent story and wanted to share it with you lot. Mostly because Muslims get a lot of bad press on here (some justified, I admit). Anyway, it's a gentle reminder that most Muslims aren't bomb-carrying lunatics:

It is sad that fundamentalists of all creeds increasingly make it necessary for those who simply want to get on with their neighbours to make such a stand. All credit to those in Egypt trying to drag their country back from the fascist abyss. It is a struggle that I fear is already lost in Pakistan, where the murderer of a prominent liberal politician, Salman Taseer, an opposer of blasphemy laws in that country, has already been lionised.

Great post Sam.

We need more of this sort of thing. It's great to see people standing up for what's right in spite of whatever current fad some branches of their religion is going through. I know Catholics who use contraception and think the pope is irrelevant but can still believe in basic Catholic principles. These are the sort of believers I can respect.

Hi
Agree with this.

For me what's interesting is that this is what I would have thought was a newsworthy story. But as far as I am aware there was absolutely no mention of it in any TV stations in the UK, terrestrial or satellite.

Its almost as if the news story is bad radical Muslims carrying out bomb outrages and we (the news editors) don't want to complicate matters for the viewer by having stories which tell the other side of the coin e.g. in Morocco there is a sizeable Jewish community that has been living in relative harmony, as far as I am aware, alongside Arabs for centuries.

Cheers
