An Obscene Trade
by Michael J Freeman
Now that Christmas is almost here and people are getting friendlier it is obvious that happiness is an emotion and that we could be just as friendly all year round. Our children especially are happy but other children around the world are suffering and from poverty and war.
Everybody expresses concern for children and in the Houses of Parliament there is much talk on how to protect them from explicit sexual imagery on the internet. Of course many governments around the world want to control the internet and suppress free speech because then they can do unethical things in secret. The British police have asked to be judge and jury and asked for powers to block any website they say is a criminal enterprise. Of course there is an appeals procedure contemplated after the ban, but then a business might be destroyed or almost ruined if this law is brought in. Censorship is censorship per se and once laws are enacted they can be used to censor anything the government does not like just by the use of semantics.
There are mutterings from Baronesses, Lords, ladies and gentlemen about sexual matters that they call perverse and obscene and things that they would not like their daughters to see lest they be corrupted. Legislation is proposed for ?age verification? or an ?opt in? for viewers of erotic entertainment that would mean revealing one?s identity, when they know that most people prefer to remain anonymous when viewing adult entertainment of a sexual nature.
It is heart warming to hear so much concern for protecting children in the mother of parliaments but it seems that this concern is restricted to indigenous children and does not include the innocents who suffer abroad. The obscene trade in weapons of mass destruction continues unabated and it is the children and innocent civilians who are maimed or killed by the merchants of death.
I am ashamed of my country because it allows Arms Fairs and will sell to anyone with the cash if they sign a non export agreement. The agreement is merely a sham and the British state knows that once the weapons reach their destination that they have no control over them and that they can end up in the hands of any would be mass murderer seeking wealth or power.
If one conspires with a mass murderer to kill or maim civilians then one is equally guilty of murder and that is what I accuse the British state of, conspiracy to mass murder. There is so much evidence of guilt available, strewn across the killing fields of the world, and if we examine the detritus of this evil trade then we can trace most of it back to our country and the other rich so called civilised countries of the world.
Those above know the facts so why don?t they ban the sale of weapons, bombs and landmines to other countries? The reason is money gained from exports and this is why those in power, red in tooth and claw from the blood of millions of innocents continue to peddle their filthy wares...
If you are concerned about the suffering of children women and civilians then you can write to your MP, or representative, even raise a petition. Let the merchants of death and their ilk know what you think of them and the arms trade. We can stop it if we try and really care...
