Political Tosser of the year 2010

Well Boys and Girls,

It?s getting to that time in the year when people have annual awards ceremonies.

One of these is Political Tosser of the Year 2010.

The award is given to the person who has brought the political process into the most disrepute. Who has deceived the voters for their own political gain? Closing date is end of the year. Obviously some people will be keen on Gordon Brown getting the award. VInce Cable has obviously made an outstanding move over the last few days to try and get the prize.

The award itself, is an absolutely glittering prize. A fake gold sculpture of a voter with a ballot paper, being stabbed in the back.

In the true spirit of democracy, it?s one person one vote i.e. none of this alternative vote shite. I know a lot of forumites would probably just prefer to put a cross against a name in line with your usual elections, but under rules formulated by FIFA to enter you have to do two things:

a. Give a name.
b. Explain why.

For example: Gordon Brown. Because he's a twattttttt. may require a little bit more information to be added.

Happy Voting
D

Nick Clegg

Okay, surprise, surprise, my candidate for Political Tosser of the Year 2010 is Nick Clegg.

Why? Well here we go.
1.On a document dated March 16th i.e. 2 months before the election, the head of the secret pre-election coalition negotiating team, Danny Alexander, wrote: "On tuition fees we should seek agreement on part-time students and leave the rest. We will have clear yellow water with the other [parties] on raising the tuition fee cap, so let us not cause ourselves more headaches." In other words the Lib Dems planned to drop the whole shebang of abolishing student fees in order to get power, if possible, but they weren?t going to drop it from their manifesto because it was a great differentiator and students loved it.

2.In April and early May, most student unions couldn?t get rid of Nick?s merry men posing with students and local Lib Dem candidates in front of a cardboard cutout of the pledge to vote against any increase in student fees.

3.Within a month of the secret document, Clegg recorded a YouTube video for the annual NUS conference on 13 April in which he pledged to abolish fees within six years."You've got people leaving university with this dead weight of debt, around ?24,000, round their neck," the future deputy PM said in the video.

4.The election came and went and within about 5 days the Lib Dems as a party in accordance with the plans outlined in 1. above had dropped any ideas whatsoever of abolishing or voting against student fee rises.

5.Given that the details of 1, were not widely known, Clegg had to come up with a reason for the about turn so he settled on the ?we never knew the economic situation was so bad? ploy. Unfortunately for Clegg, he had been fully aware of the economics prior to the election.

6.So the plans to double or triple fees came out, produced by the Lib Dem Vince Cable amongst one or other key people and the student opposition at this treachery grew and grew.

7.On the day of the vote in the Commons, Clegg accused the protesting students of being ?dreamers?.

So I rest my case, for sheer brass-necked, fucking political effrontery, I propose Nicholas Clegg as the Political Tosser of the Year.

Over to you, if you want to have a go.

Cheers

Margeret " horse faced cunt " Beckett

For renting out a house whilst living in a grace and favour flat and claiming expenses for a mortgage and saying that she hadn`t done anything wrong.

Contest over. Gordun McBroon for letting the banks lend money for fun while he was chancellor then being the worst PM in living memory.

It's a tie

All Lib Dem MPs together, for the obvious reason. Absolutely no principles whatsoever. I don't care about the handful who voted no on tuition fees (the abstainers are worse than those who voted yes in a way) because they continue to prop up this government.

I'll reserve a special place for the following.

Nick Clegg, for pomposity and bare faced lies.

Vince Cable, for never having a firm opinion on anything and holding three positions on the tuition fees vote, two of which aired within a day of each other.

Chris "no nukes" Huhne, who has decided that his long opposition to nuclear power is no longer important.

Danny Alexander, for being lightweight, well out of his depth and ginger.

Whoever that posh twat was who had to resign for being gay and hiding it, for basically being a Tory in a transparent disguise. He turned my guts over during the campaign and strutted into the Treasury after the election. Had the decency to resign when he thought he had to, but did so in the full knowledge that he'd be back sooner rather than later. A future Tory MP and cabinet minister imo.

Sarah Teather, for making a big deal of being "the only MP still paying off my student loan" in her maiden speech, attacking student fees... then supporting the policy as soon as she has a ministerial salary to protect.

Lynne Featherstone, for being a wet, dippy, airheaded who has somehow fluked her way into government, and was led weeping by Cleggy into the yes lobby on tuition fees. Another one who voted to keep her job.

All scum of the worst possible kind.

All politicians are self-serving cunts but Lib Dems are the most blatant. Every vote they cast is a vote for themselves.

Yawnfuck

"Don't let anyone tell you that this time it can't be different - it can."

Nick Clegg

Few could argue against that alright.
