Instead they`ll just monitor and control your thoughts. Oh wait thats labours policy.
I knew this would never happen. Seriously, who`d call their ISP asking if they can have the porn turned on? And what`d happen to the net without porn? Because lets face it, its got fuck all else to offer these days unless yer into being spammed by fucking third world savages

Quel Surprise! It would be a disaster trying to effectively filter stuff without fucking up everyones access to everything apart from Cliff Richard. With any luck the do- gooders will be pleased that the authorities at least, "Tried" and sod off and leave us alone for a few years!

Given theres at least 1 highly visible workaround(VPT) for ISP filters
we shouldnt be surprised that their opinion is so
Common sense tells me if it takes someone to write the program it can be worked around by an IT colleague given enough time
Security consultants and hackers have been playing this game for decades
with no end in sight so only a fool would believe you could block the internet effectively

At the risk of being savaged buy DJ, I don't think it's in the nature of this government to collect info on everyone. Hopefully, they were following through with pressure from a lobby group demanding this was put in place. No government would dare refuse the demands of a bunch of censoring nutballs, otherwise you'd have The Sun on your case. I think the Coalition has other stuff to think about apart from porn at the moment.
Finally, why don't these fucking people who want to censor, ever take responsibility for the actions of their own kids. If you are concerned about internet porn, there are plenty of filters you can apply to a family computer to rid yourself of this "curse". These wankers must always drag the rest of the populace into their crazed, sexually repressed master plans. Why don't they apply the same zeal to the proliferation of video games featuring US Marines roaming streets murdering anyone they so choose?
Of course this is totally healthy for kids to participate in!
Say no to censorship

Proposals like this, that gain half their effectiveness from scaring people into refusing to put their heads over the parapet and say 'yes I want porn', may be tackled by turning it into a 'no, I dont want my internet use controlled by government'. Its not just a sexual matter; once governments put physical, as opposed to basically legal, barriers on internet access, initially on sexual content, political censorship soon follows. Even the lost fight against the so called 'extreme porn' ban managed to garner a few highish profile supporters. A measure essentially preventing adults from deciding for themselves without a nannying state looking over their shoulder should be able to get a lot more support. Its important not to let the other side hold some spurious moral high ground with their fatuous 'we've got to protect children at all costs' mantra.
Are any other countries in Europe planning similar 'protection'?

I wouldnt dream of it.
"I don't think it's in the nature of this government to collect info on everyone. Hopefully, they were following through with pressure from a lobby group demanding this was put in place"
The reports I have read suggest it is a Tory MP, Claire Perry, who has been pushing this quite hard.
The Tory party still has a very big "shoot em, flog em, we dont want the servants seeing this disgusting rubbish etc etc" wing.
Its just that "Call me Dave" Cameron tries to keep them in check because it is bad news for his "progressive" shtick he and Cleggie go on about.
Cheers
