Queen's head to disappear from stamps?

I hear today that the Royal Mail could be sold to a foreign firm, and they are under no obligation to keep the Queen's head on British stamps. This is a step too far I think. Foreign people shouldn't be able to buy Royal Mail at all, let alone remove the Queen's head from stamps. Apparently the Government, who have no way of forcing the new owner to retain the Queen's head on the stamps, are 'confident' any buyer will. What do people think about this? I think losing the Queen's head from our stamps would be as big as losing it from our coins, but that will probably be the next thing. It should remain British owned, and the Queen's head should stay.

If you look at companies like British Gas and British Telecom they tend to be described as 'global' and 'multinational' which means there's a very good chance that there is 'foreign' interests in those companies. Why do you propose that it should be different for Royal Mail ?
Whether or not the Queen's head is preserved or otherwise is simply a matter of personal preference. What is of greater concern .. who features on your currency or what it's worth ?

It doesn't matter that tens of thousands of jobs may go, prices will go up, Saturday collections and deliveries will cease, if you live in a rural community forget it. It's Liz?s head on the stamp that matters!
Have you seen the price rise next April, 5p (11%) on 1st Class ? the biggest price increase in Royal Mail history?
This is just paving the way for privatisation.
The government know that there's very little profit to be made with the cost of a stamp at 41p and prices are going up to to make it attractive to a potential buyer.
As I think I've said before on this forum I'm sure the service will be much, much better and the prices much, much cheaper when they have been privatised, you know like what's happened with every other utility that's been privatised.

It is most unlikely the Queen`s head will disappear from stamps. In fact
nigh impossible, though it makes good copy for the Daily Mail. Relax...
just enjoy next year`s price hike on bloody postage !

I suppose I'm just sentimental about this, we should keep the Sovereign's image on our stamps. I haven't seen the newspapers today but I imagine the Mail and the Express will have put this on their front pages.

Those things are very important, obviously. Equally as important as "Liz's head remaining on the stamps".

It seems unlikely, yes, but I would rather there was NO chance of it. Perhaps they should just put the image of the man who is the real leader of our nation on the stamps - Rupert Murdoch! lol.

I don't want my head appearing on stamps.
