Havent watched it personally, cause its not my kinda thing, but people I know who have seen it, say that it tries to hard to shock. To be shocking for the sake of it kinda thing.

New concept: newborn porn

The fact the director even dreamt up this concept (or am I naive and it does actually happen) is disturbing.

I've read reviews that say there are 2-3 scenes that you will never ever be able to wipe from your mind and that people have felt they're in a dream for a couple days after watching.

And for that reason in the words of Duncan Bannatyne - "I'm oot!"

Sounds like powerful cinema Oli. Heard about it and Il check it out

Also heard the same about "Martyrs" which I did find disturbing but not excessively so.

I actually dread Danny Boyles new film. Even the trialer has me wincing with the extreme editing and the bone breaking. Worse still yo uodnt even hear it or see it but you imagine it and thats just as bad, if not worse.

I dont think its the bone breaking that would make me wince, more the cutting off of the broken arm with the swiss army knife.

Well, I doubt I'll be jerking off to that one!

Baby rape? Bone breaking? Jambing cocks into eye sockets? Benny Hill causes outrage because he portrays women as sexy, but this vomit is OK because it's 'art'.

Beam me up Scotty.

Ive seen it, i wasnt shocked by the content and the hype makes the film seem worse then it is, admittedly the subjects covered in the film are shocking but people shouldnt forget its just a film

I too saw this a while ago. It's actually a very well made film, though I don't quite buy the claim it's all metaphor for the country it highlights. That's a little too pat, so it does appear to lack broader purpose at times. I did think it quite shocking, but not that shocking - you're too on your guard to allow that. Maybe what troubles some is that you do actually care about what happens, something perhaps unexpected in the exploitation bracket some have placed this in.

btw - The above mentioned 'Martyrs' is the better film, as it treats its subject far more clearly and to greater effect.

Did the people who have seen it watch the cut version or uncut version?
