'Black Dynamite' - the movie...

Post by max_tranmere »

I've only just heard about this, and it's a film I would like to see. 'Black Dymanite' was made last year and is apparently really funny and the music is fab. It's a spoof of what were called 'blaxploitation' movies of the 1970's - doods in 6 inch stack heels, corduroy pants, afghan coats, with huge hair.

Here's a question though: are people likely to find this sort of thing offensive? Few seem to have done as the film has been a huge success and there have not been any complaints as far as I can see. I personally think films that send-up anything should be permitted because comedy is just comedy.

Has anyone seen this film, and if so what did you think? Here is the trailer:

Offensive??

Hell no. It was a laugh riot. they even got the cheesy acting right. Oh and spot the uncredited porn star Charmaine Star.

I heard it did so well they are planning a sequel next year. They even got the 70's look right and the wukka-wukka-wow-wooow of the soul soundtrack.

Loved it! A big fat !thumbsup! from me

I intend ordering this on DVD.

If I heard correctly, when they announce the main cast at the end of this trailer, one of the cats starring in the movie is called Wellington T. Michaelson - that has to be the coolest name ever!

I also like the line in this where, referring to Black Dynamite himself, "when it comes to the ladies he's outta sight!" (Not meaning he disappears but he's in there every time!). Great line, really 1970's sounding!

I sometimes wish I was black. Lol!
