Sad news,
Paul has sadly died. He never did anyone any harm and was a true gent. No one had a bad word to say about him which is very unusual for an octopus.
After his stellar performance in predicting winners in the World Cup I was banking on him to pick a few favourites for the Champions League, Europa Cup etc. this season in order to supplement my pension pot when that bastard Osborne eventually allows me to retire in 2080 or thereabouts.
Will we ever see his like again?
RIP
David
PS I will be setting up a Facebook tribute page so that people can leave their condolences and tell little stories about their fond memories of Paul.

How will the world cope, now that Paul is no longer with us?

Hi,
Thank you for your kind comments. I always knew that forumites would rally round in this time of almost unbearable grief.
I will pass your comments on to his family.
Many Thanks
David
PS I am planning to put together a tribute song on Youtube, details to follow.

At the height of his fame, Paul was dating Miss Venezuela. She confided to a Sun reporter that he couldn't keep his hands off her. "He was like an Octopus" she commented. As a tap-dancing contestant, Paul later came second to Susan Boyle in the final of Britain's Got Talent.

Thank you for your reminiscences.
Paul was, indeed, multi-talented.
I remember Gordon Banks comments "Paul was the best goalkeeper that ever lived. Second to none. Who can forget that moment when he made all his legs go wobbly in order to put off the Inter Milan penalty taker in the last minute of the Champions League final?"
And as Olympic gymnast Beth Tweddle commented "I have seen some performers on the parallel bars, but Paul was different class".
Cheers

"Didnt he have 6 Squids!"
Quite right. Who can forget that scene in Octopussy, when Paul, his missus and the 6 squids appear from the ocean dripping wet, only to unzip their wet suits to reveal dinner jackets? Class or wot?
