On the net ?100 at PC World ?300

Post by mrmcfister »

Currys / PC World are selling binos for ?300 yet search around and you can get them for ?100 from Canada and posted here for ?20.Being the perve I am I love binos and I need to protect my hard eaned..so if you go to this shitty retailer (who charge ?200 for a laptop repair minimum!!!) for fuck sake write down what you want and google it.You'll save yourself a fortune...actually I like birdwatching (feathered) but it's not so cool on a porn forum...exits left bowing sorry....

Recently I bought a washing machine.

Option 1
Currys price ?369 + charge for collection of old machine + charge for delivery on specific day (I can't remember the charges)

Option 2
?266 including delivery on a specific day + ?10 collection of old machine
3 Hour delivery time window given by both email and text at 4:30pm the day before delivery.

No prizes for guessing I went for Option 2

The driver phoned about 20 minutes before delivery and arrived within 30 minutes of start of the time window.
That is what I call service.

Makes sense but the middle ground is smarter than the cheapest

Buy local online and keep the money in your community and you might actually be helping to keep local wages & jobs alive as well as getting a better deal than the rip-off high street retailer is offering

I've noticed the main culprits for the retailer in the real world are the big shopping centre bastards like Westfield who extract 20% of every retailers profits minimum...used to be 10% 10 years ago

I'm always dubious about overseas retailers especially if something goes wrong...you dont have much comeback and its usually at your expense

Hi
I only use the likes of PC World, Comet etc in an emergency when I need something that day. Their prices tend to be extortionate.

On the birding front, I am sure you will feel better now that you have come out and told the forum that you go birdwatching!

There's nothing wrong with that. Stand proud and tall! I do however have reservations about the people who seem to know individual Bewick swans by name. As in, "I see Lucy has just flown back in from Siberia this morning." Or those people who count birds and leave messages in log books e.g. 842 greenshanks, Thursday morning. Each to their own, I suppose.

As for me, I am still using the same Carl Zeiss 10*50s that I bought decades ago.

Happy birding

Also, another reason not to buy from the bastards is this. I bought a Lexmark multi printer from them and it went tits up after 4 months. Took it back and all the bastards would say was send it to Lexmark.
The fact that the Sale of Goods Act is supposedly to put the onus onto the vendor these shytes just refuse to honour their responsibility.
My local Trading Standards (Brighton) are worse than fucking useless as they suggested that as it was 4 months old when it went tits up that I had accepted it. Fucking hell, the Crusader in the Daily Express were fucking useless as well suggesting that I had accepted the bastard pile o shyte..
These bastards and all the rest of em want to sell you insurance incase the shyte they sell breaks down. I know from long experience that if anything is going to fail nowadays it will be within the 12 month warranty period. So, extra insurance is a red herring, unless you are fucking stupid enough like me to buy from Currys and PC fucking World !!!!
So what's the point of a warranty if bastards like these ignore them?

Yep PC world and Currys are for simple folk who havn't got a clue about technology and havn't yet learned how to search on the interenet.

I too only use PC world in utter emergencies ( needed a cable quickly once) and grimaced as I was bent over and shafted brutally for ?44 for a cable I knew I could get for ?12 if I hadn't of needed it there and then.

I always laugh at their price list for repairs etc, again 40 odd quid for what amounts to defragging a hard drive is one example. If I had more time I'd stand by their 'help' desk and offer free advice to any person before they got conned.

Fucking classic, Rodders!!

You should offer your services if your "local puter expert" ever decides to do an ad for the TV or your local multiplex.

I can picture it now - the image of a bloke (I'll call him Rodders) standing outside a PC repair shop in Brighton and beaming broadly as he gushes at the camera "I now use my local puter expert and get all my stuff from him. BOLLOCKS TO PC WORLD!!!"

Of course there might be a few calls made to Advertising Standards by shocked little old ladies, but I reckon it'd make the finest advert since the Cadbury's Smash space robots.

Shit, he could even rename his shop "BOLLOCKS TO PC WORLD" (on a big sign and in a fancy font, of course). Now if that's not an eye-catcher, I don't know what is.
