e readers?

I would like to do a survey of forumites to discover if any of you are e readers or prefer the printed book even though it costs a lot more.

I think what is really bad about buying E Books, ie a data stream, is that they don't offer to send you the hard back book as well, + p&p. They do this when you buy software, you can download it and then opt to have a boxed version sent to you.

Book publishers are obviously a greedy bunch!cigar!

I don't like ebooks at all as I don't find reading from a screen relaxing, just tiring.On the 2 occasions I bought ebooks, I did so as they weren't available in hardcopy.

They don't send it to you cos you are not buying the hardback book.

If you buy a vinyl record, do you expect to be sent a CD as well?

The local 2nd hand book exchange has enough books donated,bought to keep me reading for 3 lifetimes... I donated my entire collection of 400 books to them when they started to become nothing more than things that gathered dust that i rarely re-read once bought

Thats before you even consider the local council library compete with its online catalogue

E-books will appeal if they can fill the void which is things like
unavailability of titles in large print & out of print books

Far more comfortable ways to read a book than stuck in a chair staring at a screen for hour after hour

Why not? If they can do it with expensive software it's only a matter of time when publishers are forced to do it with other media as well. I don't mind paying a bit more, but the physical cost of storing and send E material is next to nothing compared to publishing a book or CD.

Or they should charge much less for a download or E Book.

Real books every time. Whats the worst that can happen if you drop a paperback onto a tiled floor? Can't beat the smell of a new book either.

Print for me every time. E readers seem to be a solution looking for a problem.

Yes but the books are much cheaper in the e version.

I have books published on Amazon digital and in paperback and the difference in cost is $5 as opposed to $20.
