Most country market towns sir would probably cater for your taste buds - There is a rather well known town in Lincs , called Stamford - they have some very nice grub on sale on friday market day - if unfortunately you have to settle on a 'supermarket' - then a good 'Melton mowbray' pork pie is worth a look. - good luck with your search

Contrary to popular belief (especially in these forums) the EU is rarely the culprit in such cases... the real culprits are the big supermarkets and food producers who sell shit at inflated prices, along with the tens of millions of consumers whose pallets, dulled by eating kebabs, McDonalds, turkey twizzlers and other crap, think Gingsters or Greggs are perfectly acceptable purveyors of food.
Have you tried looking for a proper butcher close by? Many traditional butchers also make their own sausages and pies.
If anything, the EU would probably put a stop to some of the crap being sold in this country. The only suggestions I've heard regarding food would have been for our benefit had The Sun and other right-wing, narrow-minded media not brainwashed the illiterate and uneducated masses into believing anything foreign, and especially anything coming from the EU is bad and should therefore be stopped at all costs. I'm talking about things such as the meat content of sausages (and I mean REAL meat, not mechanically recovered meat), the cocoa content of chocolate etc.
So, if you REALLY want someone to blame... blame yourself!

Re: Pork Pies
Go to a proper butcher, or a deli if you have one nearby.
Also, consider a huntsmans pie, its a pork pie, but topped with chicken and stuffing instead of the pastry lid.

We have need of you again, great king.

You live in the country? Wow. Just imagine what a miserably, mardy cunt you'd be if you lived in a noisy, overcrowded, stressful city!
I thought country life was supposed to chill you out somewhat?

Delicious Melton Mowbray pies from Dickinson & Morris, complete with bownstock jelly. They've been making them since the mid 1800's.
Oh, and they do mail order!
