SKY Adult Channel Changes

Post by Dizzy »

First we lost Spice TV to have it replaced by TopShelf TV (formerly the Paul Raymond channel) where the good bits are mostly cut out and there is pretty much no b/g...

... then the channel changes so you need to enter your pin to view and you can't record anything...

... and now you need to enter a pin for PlayboyTV and the Adult Channel along with also not being able to record those channels either!

Are they seriously trying to loose customers?!?!

I was thinking just the other day how expensive just those three channels are and how I might cancel my subscription (email to the Adult Channel on that very subject i.e how to cancel a subscription has gone unanswered, by the way) and I think today's change has just clinched it for me.

Does anyone know why the hell they've gone and made the changes? Is it just a flimsy attempt to appease the parental puritan !bobby! guardian brigade?

I've ordered a few PPV nights in the past and in my opinion they are a waste of time and money. If you have access to the net why would you order these channels now because you can see free hardcore material on the web. I suspect more channels will go to the wall unless the government allows them to show 100% HC scenes.

Very true and another good reason for me to !surrender! cancel them!

I was channel surfing just now and noticed that just after 03:30 Playboy TV no longer requiress a pin but doesn't let you record which is a bit weird.

Cheers,

What difference does entering a PIN make to you, if you'e a subscriber anyway?

It was more the point\question of;

a) it being an annoyance as i'm prompted for a pin regardless of the fact that all the parental controls are already disabled

b) why cant I record anything now?

c) why implement such changes now with no notice?

Dizzy there are a few things to remember re the sky / cable channels

1. They will always blame others for things that go wrong.

2. They will probably criticise you if you ask a question that in some way doesn't give them a compliment.

3. If you make sense you will be ignored.

I agree about the not recording policy, but I've heard that you can overcome it if you have the 'right cable'.

That's not what I mean re. the recording point. I have one of those 'magic' scart cables that gets around any interference they might like to add to the scart output (which is what causes your recorder to record a phasing picture like in the old days if you tried to copy a pre-recorded video tape).

You used to be able to record via sky itself by just hitting record on adding a scheduled recording to you planner but now when watching etc you only get the option to pay ?5.99 or whatever to record it (ridiculous considering you've already paid for it!) and even then it auto-deletes on a set date so you don't even get to keep what you've paid twice for.

It's just plain crazy !nuts!

One drawback with recording via scart etc to a vcr\pvr\dvr is that it doesn't allow you to use the sky box while the program is being viewed.

I have also noticed that the picture quality on the Climax 3 Channels is very poor. It may be my reception, but they are the only channels that are affected, so I don't think so.
Don't know what's going on there, but I just know it won't be to the benefit of the subscriber!

I can see both TVX and TAC shutting down in 2010. The quality of free stuff on the net and the savage level of censorship impsed by Ofcon means they are no longer valid business prospects.
