Dave Clark. I know a couple of very good semi pro musicians and he is the antichrist of drumming.

If anyone cares to read up on the history of The Rolling Stones you will find some awful drummers in their past. They, of course, ended up with Charlie - one of the greatest drummers of all time, and they were lucky to get him. I will hand over to Mr Keith Richards, he said all this not so long ago, about how dreadful their early drummers were (please note Keith still speaks the way many people spoke back in the 1970's).
Keith: "man, cat would start a number, by the time the rest of us are half-way up on the song, cat would be like going twice as fast as the cat was at the start. He was out. Next cat would start, he'd be fired before the rehearsal was even through. Cat would be like going reasonable time for a minute, and by halfway into the song cat would be, like, going half the speed he started off at. Man, so lucky that Charlie came along".
1970's-speak. Keith is still fluent.

Surely if Ringo was the worst drummer how come he was chosen to REPLACE Pete Best in the Beatles.
That must mean that Pete Best was worse than Ringo.
Anyway, Ringo was "just right" for the Beatles and if you listen to many of their early songs Ringo's infills are "part" of the song and the song would be worse without them.

Pete Best has admitted that he was never the drummer than Ringo was.

The sacking of Pete Best I think had more to do with personalities than with musical ability. Paul McCartney's brother, Mike, claimed some years later that it was almost George Harrison who was fired at that time. Think how differnt musical history would have been if that had happened. No one would really have heard of Ringo or George from that day on. Ringo would have spent the next 40 years working as a lollypop man in Dingle, and George would have spent the next 40 years working as a bus conductor in Croxteth.

Your right, Dave Clark WAS a rubbish drummer, but was closely followed by Anne (Honey) Lantree from the Honeycombs (did I read somewhere that she was Dave Clarks half sister?).
