Not even sure what he was supposed to be innocent of - although I understand the police believed him to be guilty of a lot of things, therefore justifying the erroneous sentence. If you?re guilty of something, does it really matter if you?re sentenced for something you didn?t actually do?

there was another famous story around that time of a chap who was sitting in a traffic queue in his Mini and was shot half a dozen times by plod who then pistol whipped him and it turned out in fact he wasn't the guy they were looking for ? I think the victim survived and sued the filth for a shedload ?

it was, I recall, quite a story at the time, I think it happened in mayfair or kensington ? but the names of the characters escapes me, does anyone else remember the story or the people involved ?

The guy was a film editor and just so the public didn't feel so sympathetic towards him when it came to compensation, the police put out rumours about him that he was working in porn. He was actually working on a feature film for director Tony Palmer at the time.

Yes the bloke shot in the mini was Stephen Waldorf
Very lucky to still be alive if I remember correctly and the cops
did get away with it

As for George Davis his supporters trashed Headingley cricket pitch
after close of play in test match v Aussies
