The media seem to have no problem locating the home address if any celeb who is in the news such as Amy Winehouse, Russell Brand, Jonathon Ross. There must surely be a list somehwre of celebs addresses. Does such a list exist on the net ?

Why not ? I t doesnt have to be a complete 'list. Anyone who knows a celeb's address could stick it on the net. I have seen Harriet Harman's address on the net for starters.

Celebs keeping their home addresses hidden from the media probably has no advantage seeing as they're both part of it and dependent upon it. Loads of press/industry types are bound to know where you live, when you think about it. There's probably a fair degree of discretion, but ultimately it's just a case of making the right call, I suppose.

because all these people are registered for voting (electoral register, which is available in every library and online) and because they are registered at that address for bills, etc, then where these people live is hardly a secret. if you live in an area where famous people live, then you generally know about it because of things you see in local papers, on the tv, and things you're neighbours might mention. you also often see tv crews outside a house in a nearby street and when you then ask around you discover that that is where so and so lives. a friend of mine used to work for a national newspaper (genuinely true) and he said that national newspapers even had a facility for finding out the name and address of someone from their car number plate - he said the newspaper had to pay ?200 and all details were then forthcoming. i dont know how official it was, but that is what he told me...

Newsrooms have most relevant addresses on file, and if they dont then the celeb's press people will furnish it for them.
