I have to say I felt completely the opposite. I felt it was predictable and completely lacking in any real humour other than predictable swipes at the formula... Overhyped garbage. I'd sooner have watched Heartbeat!

I agree with TDW. Wasn't really a spoof or a parody - the likes of X-Factor are beyond parody anyway. Kay just seemed to use the format as a platform for his usual (and rather laboured) schtick.

Some of it wasn't bad: a smart mockery of cretinous medleys (Born Free/Free Nelson Mandela/Umbrella), but lines such as ?flatter than a witch?s tit? could be inserted into any old script when you think about it.

I wanted to like it, but it was, alas, somewhat hackneyed - and the real tragedy is it is hard to parody something that has been a parody of itself for far too long.
Full marks for intention, but to do this properly it would have to be very vicious and that isn't Kay's style

Noel G's take on X Factor

Noel Gallagher has hit out at The X Factor, claiming it has "absolutely nothing to do with music".

The Oasis star is quoted as saying: "If somebody is dangling this carrot of 'fame and fortune' in front of a check-out girl from Barnsley who can sing like Britney Spears then they're going to go for it, right?

"But it seems to bring on instant mental illness. You're going in at the top, with a number one that sells 750,000 or whatever and you've got someone like Dannii Minogue telling you you're really talented. "You spend a year slogging around the country and then what? You can't go back to Barnsley and be a check-out girl because that would look bad. So you end up either trying to be an actress or trying to sustain your profile by going on celebrity shows.

"Instead of instant fame and celebrity and all your ex-boyfriends and girlfriends coming out of the cupboard and your family being ripped apart the prize ought to be, 'I'll introduce you to someone who might introduce you to someone who might, if you're very lucky, know a producer who'd record one of your songs'.

"That's the only way to make any money. Otherwise you sell five million records and earn 50 grand." He added: "The X Factor has absolutely nothing to do with music and everything to do with television."

Thought the whole thing dragged on far too long. If it had been condensed to 30 - 45 mins it would have been quite funny.

Heard they may actually be releasing the song for xmas or summit?

The trouble is, as good as he CAN be at times, much of Peter Kay's audience are indeed the very hapless imbeciles that spend every weekend glued to The X Factor & Strictly Come Dancing, so he was hardly going to go to town on it all - though I bet that '2 Up 2 Down' band have spoiled some pillock's plans for an 'original act'......

"The Winner's Song" is out this week - released for a "chart battle" with actual X-Factor winner Leon Jackson. Ho Ho.
