It's a funny old game !

A year ago when we got Frank Sinatras financial backing and Sven in charge I kinda predicted to myself who City would need to progress. My predictions for them to buy were : - Ronaldiniho, Berbatov, Downing and Bullard.

Ronaldiniho we missed out on.

Might be we don't get Berbatov.

Downing would be a great player if left Boro.

And Bullard is well worth his England call up.

But I will now predict that this is gonna be the start of something HUGE for us long suffering Blues - MOVE OVER MAN UTD.

how fucking mad was that today? Robinho from under Chelsea's noses! Someone at Chelsea must be in for the boot for letting that one get away. I was thinking we'd end up back at square one a few weeks ago but now it looks like City are serious about mounting a proper challenge. And all that money from nowhere from the arabs??! Bloody mental day! I still think someone like Aldershot will bring us down to Earth though by dumping us out of the FA cup or something! Just for old times sake!! Having endured some shit times in the past you just can't get too caried away! Will us fans finally see one of the big trophies with our name on it soon? Bit premature to ask I know but....

Think Hughes just may be the man.

Would be nice to see another club in the top 3 for once but as we have seen in the past spending big doesnt always guarantee success

heres an unusual take on the situation

Thats funny as fuck Deuce! (let me guess..United or Chelsea fan? lol)..

Spending big certainly helps matters though..just ask Blackburn, Chelsea and Man United fans..The Arab Tanks have rolled into (Middle) Eastlands and are firing ?50 notes at Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge..let the good times roll!!

I'm strictly neutral which means I take the piss/give unbiased praise to all the sides, being Australian has its advantages

For mine it really depends on who you buy with the money. To many Egos in the same team doesnt always equal harmony on the pitch.Blackburn with shearer bought a title mid 90s but couldnt reproduce it with Newcastle
You buy the best squad which is not necessarily the biggest name players

How long since Real Madrid won Europe?

I dont know what the figures spent by clubs annually is but there are teams that always finish mid table that seem to very rarely look on song
all season. We all know who they are...tottenham,aston villa, newcastle, man city

I am not sure Robinho is going to fit in at City.
For a start it will be a culture shock living in Manchester after Madrid.
I can't see him settling down there.
I hope i am wrong and it does not disrupt the rest of the team
You have only got to look at Mr Shevchenko you see a player who did not fit in.

SWP was a good buy on his return

As a Chelsea fan I'm disappointed we didn't get Robinho (though I think it wasn't just about the money... I sense Real Madrid preferred to sell him to anyone but Chelsea after the last week or so, and given Man City aren't in the Champions League, it was a deal that wouldn't bite back immediately).

However, I'm pleased for City fans overall. Sparky is a great manager (he was my first choice for the Chelsea job) and anything likely to piss off SAF is fine with me! It also means a good possibility of Liverpool not finishing in the top 4 at the end of the season, which is also fine by me!

As an added bonus, having yet another rich English club will piss off the likes of Platini and Blatter.

It'll be nice for Mancunians to at last have a team they can be proud of in their city.

nice one Bob but I would be getting worried if I were you - we're going to "pay whatever it takes" to sign the best players in the world to city
names already mentioned are Torres, trannie ronaldo and fabregas
