Watched it yesterday on Eurosport. They really did make it long winded.Overall, good news for all the English clubs, who should proceed into the last 16 from their respective groups.

On the small awards ceremony. Not sure about Lampard getting UEFA midfielder of the year, and this is coming from a Chelsea fan.

Looking at the groups, sods law says Chelsea will draw Inter Milan in either the quarter or semi finals, with the winners eventually lifting ol 'big ears' in Rome, come May.

I don't think Terry deserved to get the Best defender honour either. Ferdinand walked that, in my opinion, with Vidic a close second. I'd say Carvalho had a better season, last year, than Terry, so I can't work out the rewards system.

Fabregas should have got the Midfielder title.

Goalkeeper - Chech
Defender - Ferdinand
Midfielder - Fabregas
Forward - Ronaldo

How a team than won absolutely nothing got 3 out of 4 players in the UEFA players awards is totally beyond me. Maybe Blatter and Platini are still pissed off at Man Utd not leting Ronaldo go to their pet club, Real Madrid (or they took Abramovich's roubles).

The way the awards were going,i thought they were going to give best forward to Drogba!!!.

I agree Fabregas should of got best midfielder, with Torres getting best forward.

Awards are always fucked up.

Celtic look like there doomed to third place, the group with Real, Juve and Zenith looks interesting, Fergi reckons they be a force even without Arshvin.

Very true,i was impressed with Zenit last night, and i reckon they'll give both Juve and Real a run for their money.

Juve will be a bit rusty, having been in European exile since 2006,but anything's possible with 'The Tinkerman' at the helm.

Celtic have a slight chance progressing. It will rest on them winning their home games.

Liverpool have the hardest group imo, with Chelsea having the easiest.
