I've thought this for years- Buffalo Soldier and the Banana Splits Theme- and at last someone writes an article about it!

Interesting comparison. I like the fact the Marley Foundation claim that Bob was not familiar with the show? How would they know? Do they know everything that he watched in his life time? or maybe he never had a tv in the house because he couldnt afford it.

If he did plagiarise the tune I can picture him chilling out in front of the tv smoking a spliff and maybe he migh thave been influenced.

Who knows?

People in the music world steal riffs and tunes all the time if it makes their particular record sound better.

Did John Williams plagiarise "The Flight Of The Bumble Bee" to create the Star Wars soundtrack? Did Jerry Goldsmith plagiarise "Carmina Burana" for his "Ave Satani" Maintitle to The Omen?

This sort of thing goes on in all genres of music.
