Hello All
Now that the repeats of the Billy Piper series in under way on TV, and written by an escort. Does anyone know of any referance area's where more information can be found relating to the Adult Industry. Such as, people trafficking, what happens to them , the time span of an escort, how long before they move on, if at all they do? Who runs the parlours in the UK , are then licenecd by the local Authorites, but to do what ?
Do Escorts have problems and who helps them. Do they have a career of for a short while before doig something else?
If the Police know of "hot " area's in town are they doing anyhting about them?
It appears to be a interesting subject and no place to find resources on the topic.
There was a chap who was a professor at Reading Uni who would pop up now and again on tv sex shows, who had qualifications relating to the subject.
So if anyone can shed some light on the Dark side of the Sex industry , and where I can find some reading matter, please let me know.

Escorts offering sexual services and "people trafficking" have nothing to do with the Adult Entertainment Industry as such.

I suppose a good place to start would be Look at dodgy countries like Moldova, Romania - and virtually anywhere in Latin or S. America, or Asia. A bit of research will take you further.

Prostitution and Pornography by Jessica Spector is a good read on the subject. It?s a little hard going as times because it looks at the philosophy of the subject but is well written by people who have been in the business. Sometimes a little American in it?s outlook but thought provoking. I believe recently there was a program on the BBC where a girl was told she could get a waitress job in the UK by an Albanian gang only to be sold into prostitution. Her price kept going down as she was sold by brothels 4/5 times in as many weeks. She ended up in Manchester before escaping. Mike I would say is technically correct in what he says however it depends where you say the adult entertainment industry starts and ends.

Its weird but I know some one who was done for human trafficking in Europe.
Thing is, unlike what you see on the tv that these are bad dodgy evil types who beat up women and take their money he actually seemed like a nice guy if at least a bit ecentric which totall threw me when he got busted for it.
The media needs stereotypes to get the point across that htese people are evil and manipulating but the truth is, the devil would appear to be charming and sweet and have your pants around your ankles before you thought "Oi whats that all about then???"
I'm sure pimps are charming fellows seducing women into their web and playing on their insecurities to get them to do what they want thenm to do.
The best example I have seen of this on screen was James Woods character in Casino where Sharon Stone always felto sorry for him for being down on his luck all the time. Thats how most pimps work I reckon.
That Billy Poiper series was just surface tv bull shit. it didnt offer any depth into the psche of a real working girl despite the fact it was based on a book.
In fact the book that comes to my mind is called Woirking- My Life As A Prostitute by Delores French which seemed to offer a broad insight intio the nice and the more darker aspects of what happens with prostitutes.
These days I dont really care for such things as I try to keep more light in my life than associate with darkness and misery. if you are curious however, then read up on it. Its usually cathartic to do so.

If you're interested in people trafficking watch the film 'Lilya 4 Ever'. It's unforgettable and brilliant.

Folks .
Again Really many thanks for the information , all the details will be collected and I will read , watch , and study the material . I am slowly being absorbed by the darker position, simply as I was unwittted by a very clever person , who enjoys mind games . I feel I owe it to myself to do some research .
Thank You

Which paper/radio/tv company do you work for? the average person don't know or really care about any of the above unless it affects them, family or their friends directly. I have been in the film industy many years & have yet to see a dark side, try local gangs/underworld persons who would know the bits you need as you are looking in the wrong direction on a porno info forum.
