thepiratebay.org is shutting after being raided by police in Sweden...I know copyright theft is a major problem, but many people use these downloading sites as a preview opportunity before buying the real deal....

Yes of course they do.
Even if it was true whats the odds that someone has seen it will want to own it and watch it again.
Ok I've done this with a couple of tv shows but I dont feel guilty as I've bought the box set to Dexter and will do the same with season two but I wonder how many people will actually do that.
I blame the producers for making such a damn fine show. Its their fault I had to look on a torrent site.
I wasnt stealing. Just merely previewing before I buy.

Oh by the way Michealdon1 whether people used to preview before purchase is neither here nor there.
Theft is theft. You may be one of the good guys but I can bet millions of others were not.
Think how much revenue is lost. Think of the children! The poor poor children...Timmy needs new shoes.
Is anyone even listening to me!!!!!

I was planning on buying a new Ford Puma, but thought I'd "borrow" someone else's first just to see how well it drives.
Honest.

Well, provided you had the permission of the owner, that would be fine.
File sharers do not steal files from one another. One person purchases the media, then shares it with others.
Ever lend anybody a video, DVD, record or CD?
