Were Rangers found out?

I really wanted Rangers to win the uefa cup but i feel it would have been an injustice to see them win it after the two last boring rounds they played. It would have set a bad president in european football for a team that plays such a dull style to win a european trophy. Surely this wasnt the same team that beat Lyon 3-0 in France?????? Zenit deserved to win they knocked out far superior teams. Maybe the scotish fa have not helped them with fixture congestion and zenit are only ten or so games in to there season so maybe fitness also told.

They simply weren't good enough

Losing to a team that beat Bayern Munich 4-0 last round was always on the cards even with their top striker suspended

The loss of suspended striker Pavel Pogrebnyak, the leading scorer in the competition, appeared to be hampering Zenit.

I don't think any amount of reshifting fixtures would have resulted in any other er.....result than the one tonight. Smith needs to find new tactics and fast as more and more people are beginning to grow tired of his play including the fans.

In fairness, he did remarkably well to reach a European final with a team that is not exactly setting the heather alight. The one striker upfront and don't give anything away tactic worked for most rounds, with moments of individual brilliance getting them through. No idea how they got as far as they did---but then I've no idea how Aberdeen got so far either.

Dont you think the technology used in balls thesedays makes outright defending almost impossible if your opposition is quality?

Some of the long range pile drivers they score thesedays means defending
deep is risky.Just look at Chelsea in Turkey

Hard luck to Gers, they just were'nt good enough.

Zenit, however should be stripped of their UEFA cup and banned from Europe next season if they continue their policy of not signing black players, which i think is a disgrace.

Dick Advocaaat(Zenit's manager) is very feeble in backing down to the fans, and Zenit should be forced by UEFA to have at least one black player in their team.

Who remembers when Greame Souness was Rangers manager and he defied Rangers fans when he signed Mo Johnson(a catholic) from Celtic?.

They'd struggle to find home-grown ones. The Brits are just not value for money because of the inflated wages over here, and with South-American or African players one wonders how they'd cope with the Russian winter.
They might cope well, but it would be a worry.

But we wasn't forced by UEFA to do it, was he?
Just imagine if he was, and neither coach nor players nor fans would have wanted him...
