Has anybody installed this?

Any opinions on it please?

Not tried it yet. If it's anything like Vista's SP1 it will treble the boot time (if it bothers to boot at all) and be incompatible with Microsoft's very own 'Defender'....and break lots of other stuff, naturally.

!swear!

Never did any of that stuff to my machine. In fact I didn't notice any difference after Vista SP1.

I've still -happily- got XP and Ubuntu, with no Vista at all, but have installed SP1 on both my sisters and mates laptops.

Both had conflicts with Windows Defender and both broke Vista's sidebar. After SP1 nobody could log on apart from the admin account. Had to use system restore on both machines in the end. It was a few weeks ago now so maybe SP1 has been patched.

Either you were lucky, or I was unlucky.

The smart move is always to let others find the faults before you do

XP 3 a few known bugs can be read here

Funny how whenever micsrosoft is mentioned the subject always turns to bashing vista no matter if its not even being discussed ;-)

Serves em right for monopolising the industry! Oh, and taking nearly 7 years for that pile of shiiiiiite! I mean, with the money and resources they have at their disposal....

And with OpenOffice & GoogleDocs about, maybe Microsoft can divert their resources away from over-priced, over-bloated office suits and then they may produce an OS that befits the 21st century.
