Moscow for Final

Post by Ace »

Have to feel sorry for all fans going to Moscow for the final, all that travelling and visa problems. I wish UEFA and FIFA would look at this next time and have a stand by stadium nearer for travelling fans. If not Wembley in this case, maybe France.
I know its all pre-booked and arranged, but if I was travelling to Moscow, I'd be less than happy with all the palava organising it

The West London of my youth is now on dvd

I've met the man on the street............and he's a cunt

In a straight line Moscow is less than 1000 miles from London, so handy for Chelsea and the majority of Man U fans.
Biggest issue will be scary costs. Flights are being quoted at ?1000, a 3 star hotel is about ?200 a night and eating out is daft money. Add in the possible clashes with the extremely violent Moscow teams' fans and I predict problems. I cannot see the Russian Police being too friendly either.
I have many friends who are Man U fans and they have zero intention to go to the final, simply off the scale money wise.

I saw something on the news yesterday saying that Moscow is now one of the most expensive countries in the world to stay in and dine out.

Commonsense says pay the Russians compensation and move the tournament to Wembley

Will be interesting to see how good the pitch is given this from the wiki page

However, a temporary natural grass pitch will be installed for the 2008 Champions League Final

Don't the Moscow riot police use live ammunition- and are not known for their attendance at flower arranging classes?

Moscow (a city, not a country Guilbert) is horrendously expensive but the other comments are way off the scale.

As for moving the match, imagine the outcry had the Italians wanted the 2003 final moved from Old Trafford because it involved two Italian teams.

Locations for sporting events are decided well in advance. Cities spend large sums in putting together bids for all sorts of sporting events.

If Moscow is too expensive, fair enough - and if they don't make enough from the event because of overcharging that's their problem - but wanting the final moved is ignoring the can of worms that such an action would open up, not only in sport but in the location of international conferences and exhibitions many of which change location each year and are the subject of intense bidding.

It is going to be a nightmare for all concerned and I suppose the only small compensation in losing to those blue nose fuckers last night was that a Liverpool Man Utd final would have seen Moscow become a battle ground.

Actually that's no compensation.

Fuck it. I hate losing.

I've often wondered that myself.

Going to football isn't what it used to be before the Oremier League was formed - it's all about greed and filty lucre now: Sponsors, advertisers, corporate hospitality packages, shareholders and pandering to the demands of pay TV are the only things that matter to those who run the game these days.

Football isn't about or for the true fans any more - they're now just "customers" to be ripped off at every opportunity.

Incidentally, tickets for the final are already going for stupid money on eBay:

and there are daft fuckers with more money than sense already bidding. Every chance that they're moody tickets as well (can't make it due to "work committments" / "my friend Brian's name is on them but you'll still get in" / "my time didn't make it" .... yeah right!!)

Me? I'll be at home in front of the TV with a few cans.

Oops. That should have said consolation (twice) and not compensation.

Where's that edit button.
