Theres probably a smudge on the DVD, give it a really good clean. With loght scratches on CD's I've washed them with a solution of tooth paste and water, rubbing your finger around clockwise vigorously. The abrasiveness in the toothpaste seems to help remove the surface scratches and then the CD works again. Haven't tried it on a dvd yet.

Why discard those used condoms? Simply, wash them out and hang them on your washing line. When air- dried, simply sprinkle talc or flour in them, roll them up and save $$$$$$ (My pound sign doesn't work.
Another handy hint. What do you do with those "Bendover Underpants" you got for Xmas? Why not simply attach 2 very long pieces (at least 100ft) of twine to each side of the waist band, run along, dragging the pants behind you until the wind catches them and the pants soar skyward. Will amuse your friends and family for hours.

Sirs DVD player might need a repair, or if I may be so bold, the purchase of a new one.

Stick it in your pc (if you have one) Steve and see if that plays it, could just be your dvd player is being a bit fussy.
Also as mentioned give it a good clean with some kitchen roll.
Unplug your dvd player from the socket (with & without the disc in) and see if it recognises it when you switch it back on ... either that or it could be a region 2 disc that your player does not recognise (doubtful with Bergerac)??
