Root Hook help!!!

I am having a nightmare.......whenever I try to send email I get a message saying that my IP address has been rejected (Host blacklisted in sbl-xbl.spamhaus.org).

When I go to spamhaus and look up why I have been rejected, it says my IP address is being used for Nating (?) and is sending out copious amounts of spam!!

SOOO - does this mean that some cunt has stolen my identity and is using my details to send out SPAM???

Someone told me that I may have been root hooked (?)......wtf can i do???

I am not techie minded so tread gently with responses!!

Have you done full virus checking, scanned for root kits etc?

I know you're using webmail but if you're using pop3 to send/recieve through Outlook/Outlook Express then maybe.........

Worth a shot.

Not all AVPs offer a root kit detection - AVG for one.

Bit Defender does as does the online scan

NATing is masking a range of IP addresses i.e. the spammers use a range of IP addresses to hide behind and these are always the innocent.

Your identity details have not been compromised.

This explains what you need to do to remove yourself from Spamhaus

As for 'root hooking' do an online scan with Bit defender. You will need to use Internet Explorer to do so.

Bitdefender never works for me. I've tried turning off my firewall and everything but it gets to a specific file and stalls. (the file is a dvd rip, about 4 gb)

Had the same problem with bit defender 2nd time around

better known as NOD32

to remove you've got to sign-up for the 30 day free trial & it dont like other anti-virus software

Both these found stuff all of the others didn't including bit defender
Neither found what the other found....infuriating

Just proves theres no such thing as secure on the net

I'm I correct in thinking that Kaspersky and Steganos are basically the same system?
