I'm returning to England in a month or so,and need a good net connection.
Money is not so important as quality.
I want to host some files, and upload a lot of content on a regular basis. So a good upload speed, and unlimited traffic are essential.
I'll have a choice of cable or telephone service,so please give me an idea of what is available, and the kind of prices/quality of service I can expect.
I was hoping to get an upload speed of 2 mb,is that possible?

Unlimited broadband at 8meg down and 1meg(ish) upload is found throughout most of the UK now. All between ?15 & ?30 a month depending on who you plump for.

Just don't go for talktalk.

Don't opt for tiscali either, whatever you do. Also, if tiscali buy up the company you do decide to go with, leave them, immediately.

This link may help you choose who to go with.

Yes, an ISP without a FUP is a must.

I believe tiscali took pipex over towards the end of last year too.

First thing is go onto BT.COM and click on their speed test. It will let you know how fast you can go. I have 8meg but BT says the max I can achieve is 4meg. Yet in my office, less than a mile away it goes to 6.5meg...don;t pay for speed you can't use.

I'm with BT and they tell me I have 6.5meg, but when I do a speed test (provided by BT) it says 4.5meg.
