ive got a tomtom one xl 4.3 touchscreen western europe so uk ireland and about 12 european countries,i only wanted uk but it was only ?30 more than the uk only model and its got a sd card slot so handy if youweanna upgrade at any time/bluetooth etc on it


?199 here but about ?160 in currys i think or just for uk and no card slot this one

?130 currys but for a xtra ?30 id go for the one xl europe

Hi Ace, I would go with TomTom, just get the model your comfortable-- price wise with, but ask them if they will throw in the UK camera database as well. It saves my licence about 3 times a week in this country.

Tom Tom One is absolute shite!

I've had mine for about 18 months/two years now and only use it because I don't want to shell out money on a replacement from Garmin or whoever which might prove to be equally shite.

Let me give you a few examples of how awful it is...

Driving from Surrey to Suffolk for a stag show, as I was going around the M25 and closing in on the Dartford tunnel the sat-nav kept telling me to turn off when the obvious route was to take the tunnel and then take the A11... and no, I hadn't asked it to avoid toll roads!


Returning from a funeral in deepest Kent a few weeks ago the sat-nav took me down some narrow lanes that were plainly unsuitable for motor vehicles. At one point it told me to turn right... the problem was the road it wanted me to turn right on to was some 60 feet above me!!! When I did eventually join the dual carriageway that I had driven under earlier, it told me to turn off at a junction that simply didn't exist!


Looking for a street near Liverpool Street station in central London, on 3 separate occasions it tried to send me down "streets" that were wide enough only for pedestrians and also wanted me to go the wrong way up a one-way street.


I have also noticed that when I recently downloaded updates for the safety cameras, 4 cameras on the A3 between the Chessington junction and the Robin Hood roundabout no longer existed according to the Tom Tom. On my way to Torquay last week, I drove past no fewer than 6 cameras between Exeter and Torquay that were not flagged by the sat-nav.


The above are just a few of dozens and dozens of times when I have felt let down by the Tom Tom One
