well even though Hatton has the biggest heart, tonite showed he just doesn't have the skill to claim that
gotta be Calzaghe for me, has the skill and the brains to be able to change tactics in the middle of a fight to win, now that his hands stop him going for the knockout

Second place beats consistent first place to gong, eh? Is that the British way?

It was Calzaghe anyway, regardless of Hatton's success. Hatton winning last night would have made it a great achievement, but I would have still said Calzaghe was the best British boxer.

Currently yes, but ever? He's no Randolph Turpin or Jimmy Wilde.

I love Joe Calzaghe, BUT if he fought Nigel Benn in both their primes, I'd tip Benn to win.
Still, my prediction for Hatton v Mayweather was a tad off......what do I know?
I also think Michael Watson was a class act as well.

I'm sure I've heard interviews with Nigel Benn where he's said he wouldn't have wanted anything to do with Calzaghe. However, my own personal favourite was " the Chairman of the Who Needs Him Club" Herol 'Bomber' Graham. Easily the finest British fighter who for one reason or another never got to wear a world title belt. Other than him, John Conteh was a great fighter.
