John Redwood's new proposals show exactly what life would be like under the Tories. Tax cuts for the rich financed by taking from the poor.
Among the reduction in 'red tape' he wants is the taking away of health and safety regulations in the workplace. These were implemented by The Labour Government to make the workplace a safer environment for everyone.
To John Redwood safety for the workers is just red tape and if a few of them become injured or maimed for life then that is a price worth paying to give tax cuts to the rich.
The Tories live in a strange parallel universe to everyone else. They believe that those who have more than they need should be given even more, and those who struggle to survive should finance this.
What strange people they are!

The Tories haven't changed have they?
They don't want the 'underclasses' going into further education either. It's better that the working classes are left so they're just educated enough to get a job and pay taxes. Heaven forbid the commoners going to university and becoming clever enough to see that the Tory way of doing things is 100 years out of date.
Camaron was on the other day too, talking about denying youngsters who get into trouble, a driving licence once they become eligible. How stupid can one get? You'll just get more kids driving with no licence & insurance.

Hi Giles,
There is nothing wrong with paying University fees yourself. I am speaking from experience because I have just done a degree at Hallam University in Sheffield.
You don't begin to pay back the fee until you are earning at least ?15000 per year. Even then it is only a tiny amount per month.
As people who have degrees usually go on to earn more, it is right that they pay for their own education. If not it comes out of taxes, so that means the least well of are paying for the education of those who will become better off...if you see what I mean.
Sam,
I though I was hearing things on the radio the other day when, like you, I heard Cameron say the would take away driving licences! As well as the point you make it will also increase unemployment because many jobs require a driving licence these days. This would mean more money spent on unemployment benfit, so less money available for public services. A bit like in the 80s.

What about those who fall on hard times? If you had a major accident and were unable to work you would soon change your mind about the welfare state.
Also, much of the wealth of the super rich has been inherited they have done nothing to earn it. It's not a case of some succeed and some don't, more a case that some are born with less advantages than others.
Finally, the alternative to capitalism is not socialism. We got rid of this idea in 1997.

The real scroungers are the super-rich who have indeed done nothing to earn it.
So what do the Tories want to do? Abolish Inheritance Tax!
