With all this mention of gangs in brixton, I am reminded of some panel of go-gooders high on smack goverment panel who say we shouldnt brand them are Gangs as we are glamourising it and they love it.

This story was picked up by most the papers only this is the only one i found in my history to link to, and my google-fu is rusty.

I have to wonder if these assholes have actually been around these groups of people? I don't mean the 'troublesome youth groups that loiter around the entrance of the eton canteen' either, i mean in the middle/lower class neighbourhoods ?

What do you think ?

Gangs or 'Troublesome Youth Groups' ?

Panal of Clueless Toffs or Goverment Retards ?

In my youth it was Mods and Rockers and when they converged on a resort they formed very large gangs i was present at the Battle of Hastings 1966, but be it gangs groups hoodies or whatever its just a passing phase as people move on in their lives and my next phase will be a pipe and carpet slippers i will probably be wearing them at the bgafd party !cool!

Mods and rockers were a good deal less violent [and much less well-
armed] than today's little darlings.

Well i dont remember any of them carrying guns but flick knives were still doing the rounds but you are right it was mostly the old art of fisticuffs and i do remember the odd motorbike chain being brandished as a weapon !sad!

...and of course at least between the 14th and 19th centuries they were
probably less well-armed even than the average pedestrian.

There has always been violent people around and i dont suppose these days are any less or more violent than any other times, i can remember back in the 60s there was some very naughty gangs around in London and elsewhere, and yes you are right about street lights remember Jack the Ripper when he stalked the dark streets of the Eastend in Victorian times !sad!

Yeah, I've never bought into the perception that we're less safe on the
streets than we were in the past.

I think the gun culture of rap music is very much a part of this. I take every opportunity to blame rap music for everything.......YO!
