Doctor who is rubbish. The effects are awful not even up to a ten year old episode of Buffy.

The scripts and acting are appaling "set wackiness to warp factor ten doctor" and David Tennant just reminds me of that bloke from rentaghost and basically needs a good kicking.

It does not matter how much the media spunks off over it, like nearly all Brit produced drama and sci-fi it is shite.

If you want decent sci-fi the only place to go is the new version of Battlestar Galactica.

Yeah tennant overacts.

Love the rentaghost comparison and whats better than one overacting "wacky" character..having his enemy being exactly the same except he kills some people.

The uk produce this rubbish and the USA can procduce BSG the gulf between us is large to say the least.

I like the older, classic Who, but this left me cold from the start. I could never get over the growing suspicion that everyone involved thought the whole thing slightly beneath them.

And as for the supposed million per episode budget, well, that's an awful lot of executive lunches isn't it.

How do they manage to make it look so cheap on such a massive budget?

I love the new Doctor Who episodes. Makes a nice change from the type of execs who say "Oh let's make another dreary Hospital Drama" or "Another reality show where people buy a house and then live in it"... The great thing about Who is that it is a show about ideas, some great, some mediocre and some just plain awful but they are never afraid to experiment unlike a lot of British Dramas that always play it safe... By the way the best British drama in quite some time is the Brilliant "Life On Mars" which I miss loads now that it has finished.

I've never "got" the whole fascination surrounding Dr.Who !confused! I'm old enough to recall the first "Doctor" - William Hartnell.

It's the central idea, of being able to go anywhere at any time. And no worries about the centuries needed to travel between star systems, or dying horribly when some horrible form of radiation hits your body.

Or, for saddos like me, being in a huge space and time machine with some young floozies.
