The Devil always looks after his own.
Once AC got reinstated to the Champions' League on appeal, their name was always going to be on that trophy this season.
And didn't you just KNOW that when they got that free kick on the stoke of half time, it was going to end up in the back of the net !swear! !swear!.
Can't argue with their second goal - but overall Liverpool deserved it on the night.

The best side lost but how often does that happen in Cup football.
Liverpool controlled most of the game. Probably lacked a bit of quality particularly in wide areas and where as we didn't create too many chances, we did create more than Milan.
We had some luck in Istanbul 2 years a go. A little against West Ham 12 months ago and maybe that luck ran out tonight.
Nice to see the Liverpool players take defeat with good grace. There's class right through our club and a certain Portuguese bloke might learn something from that.

never mind we played better and lost this time,i thought the ball hit inzaghi's arm and went in for the first goal though but i think we took defeat with grace unlike other teams would have.

YEAH, we just lacked that extra special spark tonight that could have earned us a sixth European Cup.
It's probably true that our good doses of fair fortune ran out in in the Olympic Stadium as we played OK and in some ways better than on that never-to-be-forgotten night in Istanbul in May, 2005.
Maybe if Kuyt's goal had arrived even five minutes' earlier, it could have made them panic but it wasn't to be.
The Reds' players were top class at the end and I believe that with cash injection via Stadtler & Waldorf we'll be challenging a lot more for the title not just next season but for years to come.
That was Liverpool's ELEVENTH European Final in the three main competitions (EC, UEFA & CWC) and only our third loss. Not a bad return from some glorious nights that has seen us claim five European Cups and three UEFA Cups.

For solace, maybe Liverpool fans should take a leaf out of the Germans' book and do what they do:
When the German national side loses a tournament final (and they've lost a few!), they spend the next 4 years referring to themselves as "Vizeweltmeister" or "Vizeeuropameister" ("World Vice-Champions" or "European Vice-Champions", depending on the tournament).
The same applies when one of their club sides loses a Europen final: For example the Bayern Munich were the "European Vice-Champions" the season after they lost the 1999 CL final to Man Utd.
Pretty meaningless really - but it seems to make them feel better!
So here's to Liverpool - this season's European Vice-Champions !drink!

The difference is that Bayern probably won the Bundesliga in 1999 which gave credibility to the idea that they were 'European vice champions'. Liverpool finished 20pts off the pace in their domestic league.
