I thought their 1st album was great. Not heard much of the latest yet so can't comment.

Alex turner's a quiet lad. Don't know about boring though...

in depth look? it was on for about a minute tops mate! and it was on because evry song off their new album was in the chart, thanks to download sales somethings thats never happened before, the piece was more about how singles are being downloaded more than physically bought theese days. free promotion? do you really think this album needs anymore promotion especially considering the type of people who watch bbc news, not the most likely candidates to go out and buy it! boring? well everyones entitled to there own opinion, but first album = excellent! second album = very diffrent but also excellent!

Artic Monkets are a pub band with good PR. Can't sing, can't play and sound thick as pigshit. Should sell millions.
The notion of a band breaking any records in an era of free file-sharing and a contracting music industry is a contradiction in terms.
but they're competing against other bands in this 'free file sharing era' and have outsold them. The 60's was pretty much a boom time, what with a few hundred thousand (would be)35-55 year olds dead because of the war, there was plenty of jobs and plenty of opportunity for growth and expansion so comparing the 60's youth's spending power' compared to later decades is pointless and unfair.

I think the Arctic Monkeys produced the best album last year, and was the best album by a break-through band since Oasis in 92. It's raw with a hint of anger & frustration..............bang on for a young -working class- band.

What are your musical tastes? (if I may be so bold?)

I am pleased to see that you too are unhappy with the quality of news on BBC tv. I tend to watch Ch4 news and listen to the Today programme on Radio4. At least BBC radio news has not lost the plot yet!
