Hey!!

Just got me self a Nikon coolpix off E-bay for less than a hundred quid, and on the whole very very happy with it!! 6mp and nearly an hour of record time with a 1gb memory card. pretty good software supplied with it. the only problem really is that it is not Windows movie maker compatible. It uses Quiktime, but if you have Quicktime pro I dont think this will be a huge problem.

Still playing around with it and it is my first digital camera so i dont really have much to compare it to. But a friend of mine's mother is a semi profesianal (crap spelling i know) photographer and she assure's me that Nikon are the best cameras in the world!! And she seems to know her stuff.

BTW if any one reading this needs to upgrade to quicktime pro.....E mail me off forum. I have some information that might be of use to you !wink!

Hope this is of help

A camera is a tool to obtain a means to an end, that end being a photograph.

Canon or Nikon? Doesn't matter if you don't know how to use it.

As for megapixels, don't get fooled by the myth 'the more megapixels you have the better quality'. A a 3 MP camera pretty much looks the same as a 6 MP camera, even when blown up to 12 x 18.

The megapixel myth is used by sales people to make you feel that your current camera is inadequate and needs replacing.

What you want is a tool that you can use with good quality glass. If you buy a Canon or Nikon buy the body only, the standard kit lens is poor. And if you can't afford the decent lenses by them, have a look at Tamron and Sigma.

Film is still king for me.

The best camera in the world is the one you have when you need it.
