Hello peeps

I have just been on YouTube and come across a very moving video.

The url is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1cM4EKmrdfY

12 yr old Josh Adkins from Stanford Ky has terminal leukemia. His last wish is to be in the Guiness Book for having received the most Get Well cards.

Please help him, send your cards to:

Josh Adkins
124 Edgewood Dr.
Stanford KY 40484
United States of America

I am going out this afternoon to post him a card from sunny Manchester. I hope that other people from this forum will do the same.

Thank you

Matt

I notice the video you point to on You Tube was placed just a few days ago.

Here is an article from over a year ago about the same kid.

And here is an article from late 2005

I am not saying dont send a card, but it seems strange that a kid with terminal cancer is still alive well over a year later.

Leukemia is a disease that can stay with you for years. When my partner had leukemia, he was on the same ward as a boy who had had it for seven years. He was in the terminal stages of the disease for well over eight months.

It's one of the horrible things about this type of cancer, left untreated and you die a horrible death, if you treat it you go through months or years of agony with no guarantee of a cure.

Not to take anything away from the 'struggles' of people like Kylie and Anastacia, but when you see someone with leukemia, who has to live in a sterile air bubble for a year because chemotherapy has destroyed their immune system to the extent that a mild cold could easily kill them and their skin is so fragile that sitting up in bed is enough to make them bleed and bruise, who can't eat because of the violent nausea, but vomit ten times a day because their drip feed causes their stomach to continue to produce gastric juices, THEN you witness genuine courage.

I'll be sending this kid a card.
