Don't know if you have heard about this but Ken - more barking by the minute - Livingstone is planning to use tax payer's money, OUR money, to build an enormous mosque costing an estimated ?100M in Docklands. It will be BIGGER THAN ST PAULS. The plan is for the mosque to be so big that people flying in from all over the world for the 2012 Olympics will it see it as the biggest landmark in London even though Muslims currently make up a mere 2.7% of the population! Wouldn't it be better to spend the taxpayers money on hospitals, transport facilities, the Olympics, libraries, education, loft insulation - or Battersea Dogs' Home??

Take a second (literally) to cast your vote in The Evening Standard on-line poll to determine public opinion about whether a mega mosque should be built with your money.

I myself have signed a petition that was linked to from another site (spurs message board).

Last time i looked, 20,000 people had signed against the proposal, no doubt they will be a lot more votes by now.

By the way, it doesn't matter who pays for it it shouldn't be built no matter what!

Our capital city's skyline should not be dominated by a mosque? This is London not Istanbul.

No doubt there will be various replies stating how our country is multicultural bla bla and that they have a right to build it there, think what you want but its just another example of Muslim culture taking a stranglehold in OUR country.

If this is publicly funded, it's a disgrace. But I doubt very much whether it will be - in fact I'm pretty sure it won't be. It's a shame that the world is swinging away from secularism towards religion - driven by the religious nuts in the White House as much as anyone - but we're a free country and that includes freedom of religion.

So like it or not, religious groups have the right to build large places of worship. Evangelical Christian groups are doing similar, building enormous churches in London and elsewhere. Sad.
