It depends, if your referring to American porn that was made in the years from 1975-85 then I'm a big fan, especially from the likes of Alex de Renzy, who was "allegedly" the character that the actor Burt Reynolds played the film 'Boogie Nights'.
Some of the directors at that time had been trained in production and direction and film-making to which they supplemented their wages by moonlighting i.e. making dirty movies. But because of their professional background they sometimes came(sic) up with genuinely erotic films.
Also a lot of these films were made in San Fransisco and not L.A. and when they were making these films, they obviously wanted to make a profit but it wasn't with the nastiness and the misogyny that infects 99%of American porn nowadays.

Look at the script that Mark sent me for the scene that Thorn and I are shooting next month. I mean, first of all how rare is it that I even get sent a script, let alone one that involves something as cool as one of the girls getting tattooed while I fuck her with a strapon.
