Bulldog, SKY, Talk Talk.................
I'm with Tiscali. Good.
Limitation: 2Mb bandwidth.
Who can recommend me a provider who is all-round on:
Bandwidth, a decent number of users, and customer service?
Telewest (Virgin?) sounds good.............

Poor Jacques........there's nothing worse than a shit provider!
I have Telewest Fudge.......(well Virgin now). Got the 4mb connection and no matter what time of day it's always around 3.8mb. No caps either.
My only trouble is not actually with my provider but the Gas, Electric or water board when they dig up the road and sever the cable! I was offline for 4 days because of the Gas board last summer. Telewest did knock 10% off my bill though.
I've heard good things about 'Be' broadband if cable isn't your thing. Can't get it in my area till next month and I'm thinking of swapping over from cables broadband, phone & tv and going the sky, bt and Be route.
Dunno yet.

Demon are a really good provider as long as you don't have a problem. In 2 years of 2Mbs fixed, I never called them once. But I've been telling them since they gave me a free 8Mbs upgrade in September last year that the card in the exchange is faulty (PPP authentication - three BT Engineers also agree with me). After five months of pissing around and them blaming everything from my central heating to the underfloor heating in the wet room, last Friday they succeded in killing not only my broadband but my landline too.
Now switched to Be* and get activation on 6th - I shall report back for those interested.
Will have taken 10 days to fully migrate from initial request, which I think is pretty damn good.
One tip I highly reccomend is to get one of the new BT ASDL Face Plates (costs about ?20). You then get a very stable connection and at the speed of the BT test socket, you don't need filters all over the place either. Also use lossless Cat 6 cables.

Since I may 'Be' (see what I did there? - sorry!) changing over next month that's some good advice there Jacques.
Thanks.

Why are you going from a good provider to the relative unknown though, Sam?
!confused!

im with bulldog. never had a problem with them, never had to call them. been with them for about a year and a half. i pay about ?20 a month for up to 8mbs (but my towns exchange is only 2mb so im only connecting at 2.2mbs) with no download limits. i download probably way too much stuff off emule and other sites as well but there isnt a limit on mine.

Sorry to hear about that, Jacques.
I've been with Demon for seven years. I upgraded to Demon broadband five years ago and that's the last time I phoned them. The 8Mbps upgrade went nicely too.

Yup great company until you get a problem and then it's a farce.
