Free English lessons? I'm all for them and think it's s good way to spend a little taxpayers money. It benefits everyone in the long run (business-wise) if we can all communicate.
However I'm in a position to live near 2 community centres that have Muslims learning other Muslims English. Basically they take the council grants and use the building to sit and chat......in Urdu or Arabic and learn no English whatsoever! They also very rarely allow Muslim women.
If they were properly regulated and got paid on a performance basis then I'd be all for it. Giving them big grants and leaving them to their own devises means everyone wants in on the juicy pie, and no-one learns a fucking thing.
