Windsor Davies is a God!! All though "Never the twain" sucked like Layla Jade!! "Rising damp" Now there is a program that has held up well!! Leonard Rossiter was a true comedy great!! Not a huge fan of "Steptoe and son" but the episode with him in is just fantastic. Its on Youtube btw its called "the desperate hours"....if you need a booster of great comedy acting.

On the thought it was going to be awful front. Watched some of the first episodes of "Allo Allo" recently. It was actullay really good at the start. But they flogged it to death just like "Last of the summer wine"

Could talk all night about great British sit coms but one over riding truth is the best ones only ran for two or maybe three series. Even "Only fools and horses" became painfull to watch....like watching a once great fighter get killed in the ring!!

When im sober will write alot more on this subject.....well if any one other than you or me care Keith. But glad to know some one out there is fighting the good fight!!! lol

I watched and, for the most part, thoroughly enjoyed The Vicar of Dibley as did many millions of other people (I believe the viewing figures fluctuated between 9m and 12m, which in this day and age of hundreds of channels isn't bad). I didn't think much of the last double episode this Christmas, as I felt it had already run its natural course and those were 2 episodes too many.

It may not have been to your taste, but I found it restful, pleasant viewing and certainly preferable to, say, Ross Kemp on Gangs, Britain's Hardests Pubs, etc.

As for UKTV Gold and why it shows so many repeats... it was set up as a joint venture by the BBC and Thames to "showcase" their past "glories" (ie to repeat what they believed to be programmes worth repeating). It is now jointly owned by the BBC and Virgin Media (formerly NTL and Telewest).

I would have thought most people with half a brain would have deduced from the title of the channel what it was all about, so I must conclude that Keith Rasputin has less than half a brain... which probably also renders him unable to understand the genteel comedy of The Vicar!

Keith, you've gone down in my opinion over this post.

Dawn French has been making me laugh for 22 years now- never fails to amuse.

Don't force your opinions on others- and as for 'fat bitch'? Keith, mate- I bet you're no oil painting....hardly Marino, I bet?

Absolutely Fabulous was actually quite entertaining for the first two series, but in typical BBC fashion they dragged it out for years on end as the scripts became lazier until finally no-one was interested any more.
