Ratings for BB and its various putrid offshoots are relatively nothing special, but it's core audience seems to be youth, which attracts advertisers, and a lot of attention in the youth-obsessed media.
It's worth remembering that when CH4 started BB it was the sex angle that was deemed the big attention-grabber. But when it became obvious this was always going to be a cop-out, ratings slid, and they have since been taking ever more desperate measures (Celebrity being one of them) to achieve the sensationalism they've assumed its audience wants. Something that has backfired more sensationaly than they ever could've imagined.
Apparently all the BB outlets were on their way out even before this latest shitstorm - CBB having been completely trounced by its slicker, better-managed ITV rival I'm A Celebrity, which at least had the sense to realise it's better to watch them doing something than largely doing nothing.
Will they continue? Dunno, but expect changes.
