Laptop editing

Post by andy at handiwork »

I know that its best to use a desk top PC rather than a laptop for all sorts of reasons, but can anybody recommend a suitable LT that will allow me to edit DV material without too much frustration with regard to speed, memory, HD size etc? I'll only want to use Premiere Elements probably, so its not like I want to run Avid or even edit HDV footage. Suggestions gratefully received.

not that i'll be much help but jim has always used a laptop to edit and now we're using one to edit HD material so don't be put off by what the techies say. We'll be going dual core by the end of the month and i think jim has not looked at the names of the laptops but speed, gigs on hard drive, and price. But i think he'l end up getting a sony vaio like normal. we've got 4, so why change the habit of a lifetime

Thanks Blue. The Vaio had recently caught my eye. All the things you said to look out for are the reasons I would rather use a PC, but with 'a' levels coming up I cant get near the home computer.
I will have a look at the Sony. Thanks again.
